Cuvée Madeline 2022
WINE REFLECTION
The 2022 Madeline shows reflective energy, precision and tension. The aromatics are vaporous, floral and persistently engaging. It is lithe, supple, almost weightless on entry, then with vivid - blueberry, bramble, fresh rose petal and lavender. A dry humidor note can be seen in the mid palate. The tannins carry a cocoa texture and flow into a long finish.
VINEYARD
Source: Mount Pisa Vineyard, Central Otago
Soil: Predominantly schist/quartz
Variety: 100% Pinot Noir, multiple clones and rootstocks
VINTAGE NOTES
The 2022 vintage unfolded with remarkable consistency, reminiscent of classic Central Otago vintages like 2007 and 2014. The absence of extreme weather events allowed for unhurried growth and optimal ripening conditions, resulting in wines generous and transparent in their depth. The more subtle and nuanced characters of the two cuvée wines from their different soil origins are permitted to show through in this exceptional vintage.
